Amazing Spider-Man #573 Variant

As I've stated in the past, I'm not one for variant comic covers. The limited print run of these covers is an excuse for the comic distributors to jack up the price on something I wonder will stay under the $3 price tag. Regardless of my thoughts on variant covers and the current direction of Amazing Spider-Man, I still think the variant for Amazing # 573 is five different kinds of Awesome. Note that the all powerful, immortal Stephen Colbert is on the cover, paying homage to Amazing Fantasy #15. Not only does the cover bring a smile to my face, but I think the artwork is pretty solid and is drawn by Marvel's EiC, Joe Quesada. I may not be all that fond of the guy, but he's one heck of an artist. My only knock against the art here is that Spidey's costume looks baggy. If you don't feel like paying an absurd amount of cash for a flippin' comic book just to get this variant, having a digital version cover, or the Marvle.com logo in the right hand corner, right just click the image to the left and save as.

Mr. Colbert and Spidey will team up in a back up story for the final issue of the New Ways to Die story arc. This back up tale will be written by Dan Slott. Here's to hoping it will be a million times better than Spidey's team-up with Jay Leno a few years ago. Don't remember it? Didn't read about it? Consider yourself lucky.

The art is great, I thought his art in the biggest horror in comics is great but bad in the face area, here the face of Colbert does look good.

As a non-American I don't watch anchormen from there and I have no idea who this guy is or what program does he host, I think I'll start googling him.

Are these stories with special guest appearances continuity related?

Every variant cover I take is digital, heck all my comics are digital, so wondering where to put variant covers is not going to be a problem.

I don't know if this story will relate to continuity or not. It could just be a special back up story as far as I know.

I think I read it would be in-continuity, but since it takes place during the cluster**** that is BND, who knows, in the rare event, this ends in a "Dallas" sort of way.

Spideyfan, Steven Colbert is not a news anchorman, he is a comedian who pretends to be a big, right wing political blowhard. He is hysterically funny, and his show is on four nights a week, following The Daily Show. Both are on Comedy Central. I highly recommend them both.

Oh, and Reggie, this is a small matter of sorts, while I thank you for the nod to my blog, my last name is spelled Sodaro, not Sadaro.

You gotta love Spider-Man's black costume. Its simple, sleek design has been a fan favorite for more than 20 years. It looks just as cool in the cartoons as well. Marvel Wants to Hear From YOU!

In the letter page of Amazing Spider-Man #565, Spidey editor Steve Wacker filled the page with nothing but negative letters from readers that hate Brand New Day. Who says Marvel doesn't listen to the fans? And what's more, Mr. Wacker has even asked us to write in and tell them how we feel. Can you believe that? It takes class to run nothing but angry letters and a couple of those to the right are pretty nasty. My mother actually suggested I write to the editor and state my feelings on the molestation of Spider-Man in ASM. I'd been meaning to write them, but I just never sat down to do so. With the editor of the Spidey books kindly saying that the letter's page is "the place to vent," I think the time has finally come for me to express myself. I don't know if it will get printed since I've stopped reading ASM, but if they take my letter and many others that are outraged by BND to heart, then that's all that matters. OMIT Part 1 Reactions

22 years ago, Peter Parker married Mary Jane Watson in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #21. Many fans rejoiced. But not everyone was filled with glee. A man by the name of Joe Quesada thought that Spider-Man had fallen off track when he had gotten married and therefore, was not a character fans could relate to anymore. Even before Joe became the editor in chief of Marvel Comics, he had made known his disdain for the Spider-Marriage.
