The Spider-Marriage is Back in the Strip

That's right, marriage fans! No longer a "swinging single," the Spider-Man newspaper strip seems to have pulled a Dallas, except this time, no one is really upset about it. Only a matter of time before it gets restored in the main Marvel comic line. Bet it.

Don't be so sure, so many Spider-Man haters started enjoying Spider-Man comics since BND (there is an example this guy in CBR "_OM_").

The stories now are no longer simple rehashes and Spider-Man can fight super villains, so a major part of your disgust by the start of BND is cut away.

Why don't you read the new issues and state your opinion on them? Cause it isn't the marriage that makes the stories all groovy, "Howard Mackie" wrote much more disgusting stories with a married or a Single Spider-Man so this makes you only care about the marriage.

I'm actually glad he & MJ broke up, she's hot and all but I don't want to marry someone like her loving to party and act in romantic scenes

I think the main problem is the characterization and the step backwards, plus the editorial and co. feeling as if the the marriage is the problem instead of the writing.

One More Day left a very black mark on Spidey's character and logic, and then seeing everyone act like an immature jerk makes me feel like I'm reading about another guy.

I haven't read every single OMD issue, but I've read and own several, and that's what I've seen.


As for MJ partying, I could see where the concern would lie, although the party-girl thing was an outward persona that she put on when hurting from either her broken family or perhaps when she's trying not to think about what danger Pete is in.

I do wonder what ever came of potential romantic/nude scenes though, since the topic did come up back in the Revenge of the Sinister Six storyline in the early 90's, but the gist of it was, Pete wasn't keen on it, and MJ decided they weren't doing if it was just to be eye-candy with no merit towards such scenes.

Since MJ is usually in B-movies, I'm doubting anything major involving a nude scene has ever come up. Still...you never know.

Sol, my disgust with ASM has a lot more to do with just the removal of the marriage, even if and when it comes back, I can't say I'll come back to the book. Tommy pretty much summed up my feelings on things.

Composer Shout Out: Yuji Ohno

For my money, one of the best composers in the music business would have to be Yuji Ohno. This guys is mostly known for his work on just about anything that has to do with Lupin III. After the last few weeks, it's hard for me not to think of Ohno's compositions when Lupin comes to mind. (I've been listening to his various albums to get my jazz fix.) Ohno's works are primarily jazz-inspired and even some of his earliest efforts on Lupin music in the '70s is still considered extraordinary. Not only has he covered music for the various Lupin series and movies, he's also done music for all three PS2 Lupin games. The man is also an accomplished musical genius even when he isn't working on music for Lupin. Tokyo City Lights is a jazz masterpiece. R.I.P Mickey Mouse

In case you haven't heard , Wayne Allwine, the voice actor of Mickey Mouse passed away at the age of 62. He had been voice the world's most famous mouse since 1977. The original voice actor for Mickey was Walt Disney himself. Allwine's imitation of Disney's voice was spot on. Most of the the Mickey Mouse cartoons I've seen were voiced by Allwine. 'Tis a sad day in cartoon history. R.I.P, Wayne Allwine.

Spectacular Art of Andie Tong

Andie Tong is the regular artist of the Spectacular Spider-Man's UK comic book. Now I haven't read any of the issues, but I did come across his deviant art page last night, which feature some of the pages from what looks to be a superb comic. I love all the quirky posses Andie draws Spidey in. He also does a terrific job on the webbing and the half-mask. I can take big or small eyes on a Spider-Man mask, but I think Andie gets the right combo. The eyes aren't too big and they aren't too small. Andie also draws a very excellent Green Goblin. It'd be sweet if he could do the art for some of the Spider books in the states. James Offredi does the coloring on Andie's artwork. Needless to say, James does an amazing job, making Andie's already gorgeous art look even better. I know its only artwork and I haven't read any of these issues, but from what I've seen, it looks like the stories in the Spectacular Spider-Man UK book are a heck of a lot more interes...
