A Few More Dragon Ball Pics

Looks like a few Disney artists drew this one. Goku reminds me of Disney's Aladdin.

Did someone take Goku's food? Jokes aside, I've always loved the Super Saiyan 2 form. It's my favorite, topping even Super Saiyan 3.

The only thing missing from this picture is Trunks saying "OWNED!" Vegeta got his butt handed to him more than anyone else in the series. Kinda sad.

Ah, Vegeta.

The guy reaches a new level of power that is already outdated midway through the current saga, then he gets himself beat up (or in the case of Frieza, he gets killed).

Amazing Spider-Man #573 Variant

As I've stated in the past, I'm not one for variant comic covers. The limited print run of these covers is an excuse for the comic distributors to jack up the price on something I wonder will stay under the $3 price tag. Regardless of my thoughts on variant covers and the current direction of Amazing Spider-Man, I still think the variant for Amazing # 573 is five different kinds of Awesome. Note that the all powerful, immortal Stephen Colbert is on the cover, paying homage to Amazing Fantasy #15. Not only does the cover bring a smile to my face, but I think the artwork is pretty solid and is drawn by Marvel's EiC, Joe Quesada. I may not be all that fond of the guy, but he's one heck of an artist. My only knock against the art here is that Spidey's costume looks baggy. If you don't feel like paying an absurd amount of cash for a flippin' comic book just to get this variant, having a digital version cover, or the Marvle.com logo in the right hand corner, right...

Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

The first comic book series that I ever picked up actually was not Spider-Man, believe it or not. No, it was actually one of my favorite video game characters, Sonic the Hedgehog, back in 1993. My first issue was #2. When I was reading the book, the plots were pretty lighthearted, full of bad puns and plenty of good, clean humor. The last issue I bought was Sonic #25 in mid 1995. Needless to say, I haven't bought an issue of Sonic the Hedgehog in more than 10 years. I've been watching episodes of SatAM (Saturday AM, the term used to differentiate SatAM Sonic from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Underground) Sonic the Hedgehog on YouTube over the last few days and it got me thinking about the current events taking place in the comics and what has happened since I last bought an issue. Back to Red & Blue

You gotta love Spider-Man's black costume. Its simple, sleek design has been a fan favorite for more than 20 years. It looks just as cool in the cartoons as well. As sweet a costume as it is, I'm always happy to see the web-head return to the classic red & blue tights, which is what he does in the Spectacular Spider-Man episode "Intervention." This episode moves at a slower pace than others but considering the heart of it is Peter's inner conflict with the symbiote, I think moving slower was the right choice here. This episode was written by Greg Weisman, the show's producer. He hasn't written an episode since "Survival of the Fittest," the series premier episode, so it really was a pleasure to see him return to the writing helm. The good news is that aunt May, despite suffering from a heart attack in the previous episode is doing fine. The bad news is, the bill is pretty huge and this puts Peter in a foul mood.
